Tag Questions

This is my first time doing this so I am still learning Metrc...

I have a row of about 500 plants. I plan to use the 100-count Metrc tags (so 5 of them). Someone told me I could just secure all 5 tags to the post at the start of the row, rather than sticking the 5 tags on 5 plants in the row. Is this true? It would save me a tremendous amount of time.

Additionally, am I allowed to write on the back of the tag what the strain is so that while I am in the house on the computer adding tags to plants they don't get mixed up until I walk out and physically tag the strains with them??

Thanks and sorry if these are dumb questions, they likely are... I am just trying to learn how to be as efficient as possible since I am a one man show for the most part, and Metrc is a lot of work...
