I checked every Michigan dispensary's Google reviews. Massachusetts > New York and Oregon are next.

I've been doing this state by state. New Jersey, then California Michigan was the next ask.

I scraped the public Google reviews for basically every licensed dispensary in the state. 1,005 stores, around 1.28 million reviews. Michigan is one of the biggest markets in the country and it shows.

Almost everyone is a 4.8 or above. 93% of all reviews are five stars, so the rating itself barely separates anyone.

What people complain about, in order: Price is number one, then wait times and lines by a hair, deals and discounts, staff and service, plain rudeness, product quality, returns and refunds, and selection. Under that you get dead vape carts and batteries, dry or stemmy flower, and wrong or missing items.

What people praise: Almost always the staff, then the deals. A budtender who actually knows their stuff carries the reviews more than the product does. Same as the other states.

A few things that stood out about Michigan:

The border towns own the map. The single biggest review piles in the whole state are in New Buffalo (right on the Indiana and Illinois line) and Monroe (on the Ohio line). Quest in Whitmore Lake leads with 20,454 reviews, with URB Monroe right behind at 19,987. These stores are pulling a steady stream of out-of-state shoppers.

One chain is running the velocity board. JARS holds five of the eight fastest-growing spots over the last 90 days. That's a deliberate, chain-wide review operation.

Michigan asks for fewer star-only taps than anyone. Only 9.9% of ratings have no written text -- the lowest of any state I've done (New Jersey and California both ran near 1 in 5). Michigan also has the highest owner reply rate at 60.7%. Operators here actually engage.

You can see who has quietly gotten better or worse. Over the last 90 days versus lifetime, one well-known chain location in Flint dropped from a lifetime 4.69 down to 3.88 across its recent reviews.

It covers the full MI review landscape: review count, star rating breakdown, recent review velocity, silent star-only ratings, owner reply rates, photo reviews, and the rising and sliding momentum lists.

MA is next New York and Oregon after that.

And if you run a dispensary in Michigan and want to see exactly how you stack up against the stores around you, let me know.
