MMJ and firearms

I've made a terrible mistake. I'm a MMJ holder and recently purchased a firearm. Obviously I didn't do good research. I purchased it for mainly a new hobby and to have it for backcountry trips. It is not a huge priority to me to have one.

When I saw the form I interpreted it to mean illegal use, not considering that MMJ isn't federally legal yet. I'd like to wash my hands of the firearm and call it an expensive lesson in diligence. Obviously the act is done and that will forever be a mark, especially if it comes out, but I don't want to continue with this. What are my options?
