What POS system should I use? Opening a dispensary in Maryland.

I’ve been working in the Maryland cannabis industry for about four years now and currently run sales for one of the larger processors in the state. We sell to nearly every dispensary in Maryland, so I’ve had a good amount of exposure to different POS systems from the brand and operator side.

From what I see, most shops are using Dutchie or Jane. I’ve also started hearing more about Sweed, and I have a close owner contact who swears FloHub is the best option. I’ve been asking owners for feedback whenever I can, but wanted to get some broader input here.

We hit in the most recent lottery and are about six weeks out from opening our own dispensary, so we need to lock in a POS soon. Ideally, we want to make the right choice upfront and avoid switching later.

Here’s the general feedback I’ve heard so far:

• Dutchie – solid overall, but I’ve heard it can crash during peak times (especially 4/20) and has some lingering bugs.
• Jane – strong frontend experience, but the backend isn’t as intuitive. That said, some of the newer promo/specials features look really clean (e.g., progress bars for deals like “buy 2 eighths for $30”), which I like a lot.
• FloHub – seems very promising. One operator running four dispensaries in MD says it’s by far the best they’ve used. I also like that it allows for more SEO flexibility, but I don’t personally know many Maryland operators using it yet.
• Sweed – starting to hear more about this, mostly from MSOs.

Would love to hear any firsthand experiences or recommendations. We have a few days to make a decision, so figured it was worth asking the community before locking anything in.
