The Fight Against New York's METRC Monopoly Heats Up

I had to do some research to confirm the almost unbelievable details. In NY Metrc, licensees must pay $0.10 to generate a retail ID for a package. This is nothing more than an additional tax. Generating a retail ID is just adding a row to a database, there is zero marginal cost to Metrc to generate retail IDs. Worse, this wasn't even part of the initial Metrc rollout in NY, this was added on after the fact.
