The weed business is dead

I’ve had a license now for a few years and I can say without a sliver of doubt that the last profitable year for anyone with or without a license was in 2021, we saw a small peak in 2023 but after that it went all downhill.

Black market growers can set up anywhere and compete with the over regulated and over taxed legal market. If you think you can solely depend on being in the business and make a killing, you’d be wrong. It’s a failing market ran by rich corporations who can afford tiny margins and pump out crappy weed in thousands. They control the supply and the price. It’s a dead market and if you’re still in it, please hear out a fellow farmer with a license and get out, or stay away. We’re looking to shut down by the end of the year, it’s a shame because it was our dream to expand and produce beautiful organic bud for many to enjoy, but viruses, pathogens, the state inspectors (California), and the price just shattered everything for us.

It took us 4 years to get a license for a very small farm, we put our passion, finances, took out loans, sold vehicles, and tried our hardest to make it work, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. Our pockets have been ran dry and so has our goal. We can’t find distributors that are looking for product, everyone wants it super cheap, and we can’t even throw up a damn storage container without having to jump through countless regulations and fees and damn jurisdictions.. it’s so stupid and a horrible industry now.

To any fellow survivors who are profitable and in love with the game, or even if you’re not profitable, hopefully your dreams can continue to grow and flourish. Best of wishes to all.
