The state wants to raise the cannabis excise tax from 15% to 19% on July 1st, but there’s a last-minute push to stop it.

✅ AB 564 – a bill to keep the tax at 15% – has already passed the Assembly and is now waiting for a Senate vote.

💬 Even Governor Newsom is backing the freeze and urging lawmakers to act fast. If the Senate stalls, they might sneak the fix into a budget bill instead.

Why it matters: Legal shops (like us!) are already dealing with crazy competition from the illicit market. This hike could make things worse for licensed operators and for you, the customer.
